Public HousingThe Housing Authority operates 317 units of Public Housing in Jefferson City. We have one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and several rental houses. Rent on these units is based on 30% of the tenant's income. The apartments come with stoves and refrigerators. The furnaces and hot water heaters are electric. Tenants in buildings without central air conditioning may install, at their own expense, window air conditioners. Qualifying pets are allowed if the tenant pays a pet deposit. Buena Vista and Elizabeth Streets are in the South Elementary School District. The units on East Elm, Locust and Linn Streets are in the East Elementary School District. Both areas are in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School District. A school bus is available to transport children to the elementary schools. Applications are available at any Housing Authority owned or managed property. Applications are also available to download on the Housing Applications Page.
