Section 8 for Tenants

The Section 8 waiting list is closed effective February 17, 2010.

The Section 8 Voucher can help  a low-income family choose a rental unit that it could otherwise not afford.  When the family is issued a voucher, it has 60 days to find an eligible unit.  The Housing Authority will inspect the unit to ensure that it meets Housing and Urban Development standards for safety, size and accessibility.

Families must meet income guidelines to qualify for the Section 8 program. This chart shows the income limits for families of various sizes, based on 30%, 30-50% and 50-80% of the median income for the Jefferson City area.
