Ted Herron Apartments are located at 1303 Edmonds Street has 50 one-bedroom apartments for use by persons 55 years old or older.  Several units are wheelchair accessible.  All of the units feature fully equipped kitchens with a microwave oven, dishwasher, electric stove, and refrigerator.  In addition, the apartments are wired for cable television and have conveniently located telephone jacks.  The bedroom and living room have ceiling fans.  Each one-bedroom unit is 633 sqf. There is an emergency pull cord in the bedroom for the residents to use in case of illness or accidents.

Laundry facilities and community activity rooms for the resident's use are available on each floor of the building.  There is a conveniently located computer room with free Internet access. To ensure tenant safety, the entrance to the building is kept locked. Visitors must check in with tenants via an intercom system before being admitted to the building. Small pets are welcome at Herron.

There is a city bus stop on the street corner in front of the building.  Handi-Wheels shuttle service picks up and delivers at the door.

The Herron Apartment building is right next door to Robert L. Hyder Apartments, where there is a beauty salon and the Clarke Senior Center. The Senior Center offers meals at noon each weekday and also is used for many scheduled programs and activities just for seniors. 

The Ted Herron apartments were named for long time Housing Authority Director Ted J. Herron.
